Use of ALIEN services and tools

Students learn according to PBL and Active Learning method.

In the course database management systems, students will be introduced to the models of data storage and do exercises to understand these models. Besides, students are introduced to practical information management systems, and students will choose to organize groups to work from 3-5 students in a group. Each group will write a description of the requirement, analyze, and design system to be implemented; then, the groups will present to the whole class to exchange and contribute. This presentation helps students understand more when approaching the actual information system. After the analysis and design processes are completed, the next step is software development that uses a database management system to store data, helping students better understand how to solve specific problems. After completing the project, students will report the results to the whole class, and teachers will evaluate each member’s contributions by asking questions for the members.

During the course, students discuss in groups, with guidance from teacher and teaching assistants.

The ALIEN project provided a platform for the publication of database practical exercises for the benefit of wide engineering higher education audiences.
